Our 2011 Miss Hometown Holiday National Queens!

Miss Hometown Holiday National Grand Supreme Queen:

Dani- Sussex County, New Jersey

Danielle's Activity Log :

Danielle started off the season collecting candy for local soldiers serving overseas.  Dani was able to involve her Kindergarten classmates in the project and together they collected nearly 30 pounds of candy to be shipped over in time for Christmas.   Next, she was excited to participate in a local 5K Walk-a-thon to benefit Progeria Research.  Dani recruited her family and 11 friends to join her in raising money for this charity.  She had a great time and more than $37,000 was raised at the event! When a terrible house fire in town left a family with nothing but the clothes on their backs, Danielle and her family enlisted the help of friends to collect much needed clothing and household items, as well as money for the parents to purchase Christmas presents.  She was privileged to take part in her town’s Tree Lighting and Caroling event at the Police Station Dani helped decorate the official town tree with homemade Christmas ornaments prior to the tree-lighting.  Then later during the ceremony she sang Christmas carols with the local middle school choir and got to personally meet Santa Claus, who arrived by fire truck! Since Danielle LOVES to sing, (especially Christmas carols!), the following week she sang again, this time at the Andover Senior Center Holiday Party!  A great time was had by all!

To continue spreading holiday cheer, Dani brought handmade ornaments and candy canes to the Liberty Towers Senior Citizen’s Home in Newton and proudly decorated their lobby tree to make it festive for the residents there.

Later in the month when our local newspaper held its annual Gift of Warmth Campaign to gather new coats for people in need, Danielle purchased and delivered a dozen pairs of gloves in every color of the rainbow to be distributed as well.

Lastly, since Food Banks are so often depleted after the Christmas, Danielle and her Mom brought food to Project Self Sufficiency, an agency which distributes it to several food banks across Sussex County year round, so that they would have food on the shelves to begin the New Year. An animal lover, Dani purchased pet food to be given to needy families with pets to care for.

Danielle had a blast serving as a Hometown Holiday Delegate!  She is already talking about doing it all again next year.  It was a blessing and an honor!
